Jesus is the only way to the Father. Jesus takes His followers to be with Him that they also may be where He is.
Let us study John 14:2-6, which reveals His plan to take His disciples to His Father’s house (that is, heaven).
Let us understand the context, in which Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
(scripture)
John 14:2-6
2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.’
5 Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’
6 Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

See v2.
2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
As to the Father’s house, [2] says “The simplest explanation is best: my Father’s house refers to heaven, and in heaven are many rooms, many dwelling-places. The point is not the lavishness of each apartment, but the fact that such ample provision has been made, that there is more than enough space for every one of Jesus’ disciples to join him in his Father’s home.”
Rooms (‘monai’ in Greek) are mansions [3], or dwelling places [4].
‘My Father’s house’ is where Jesus was going. So we know where Jesus is now.
See v3.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
‘My Father’s house’ is where Jesus will take them to be with Him that they also may be where He is.
See v4.
4 ‘You know the way to the place where I am going.’
Yes, I know. His Father’s house is where Jesus was going (v2), and He will take His followers there (v3). But v4 triggered Thomas’ question. Thomas, one of his disciple, asked in v5.
‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’
This was very interesting conversation! Without destination, we are unable to get the route😊. Thomas was not familiar with the destination (His Father’s house). So, he wasn’t able to know the route well. Jesus answered to his question. See v6.
‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus didn’t explain about the destination again. Jesus only answered about ‘the way’ to ‘the Father’, whose house has many dwelling places where Jesus and His followers will be.
Jesus Himself is the way, and the only way to the Father. Amen.
Jesus is the only way to the Father. Jesus takes His followers to be with Him that they also may be where He is.
